...did you know at the height of their fame Jimi Hendrix was their opening act! That's right, he opened for them seven times. The last show he flipped off the audience and threw his guitar into the crowd because they kept screaming for the Monkees!
 
I do like the Monkeys song Stepping Stone. Has that Hippy Trippy 60s vibe to it.Maybe it was in the 60s hahahahahahaha.
 
Boyce and Hart wrote most of the Monkees hits.
Boyce and Hart also wrote Sugar Sugar which was originally written for the Monkees, but the Monkees wanted to WRITE and PLAY their own material. Boyce and Hart just laughed at them and said anyone could record their song and it would be a hit, even cartoon characters.

Being the Jimi feak at I am, I did hear that. I read a few books about Jimi when I wad a teen. They played up that he was booed off the stage. The Monkees loved him, the the teenage girls waiting for the Monkees didn't. It was a genre clash..
