The lad is quite correct. Your tone lies between your ears and in your fingers, not expensive gear. He's only pointing out the obvious as I see it.

P.S., I'm an old man and not up on terms and phrases used today. What's "tool" mean today?
My definition is a device that is used in construction, repair, or adjustment of something that is built or improved.
I think this young fella made a valid argument for development of positive techniques. Suppose I'm just old fashioned huh?

I have a friend who can seriously make a $15 kids guitar from K-Mart sound good... No Joke!
He took my extensively modified G-400 to a recording session once, and was tuning it to start playing.
The recording engineer looked at it and said: "What are you doing with a POS Epiphone? You've got Gibsons, a Fender and a BC Rich to play. Get that piece of junk out of here!"
My friend didn't say anything, but started playing for a bit.
After a few minutes, the engineer says "OK. That Epiphone stays".
True story.

According to the Urban Dictionary

One who lacks the mental capacity to know he is being used. A fool. A cretin. Characterized by low intelligence and/or self-steem.
"That tool dosen't even know she's just using him."

Oh. Ok. Now I know if someone referred me as a "tool " I should consider him a prime candidate for some curbside facial reconstruction free of charge. I understand.

NOW-- to be CLEAR Wade---- if a GIRL wants to polish/see or makes a reference TOO your tool---- THAT is a GOOD thing.
