my wife and I have been having a discussion about education and what covid are doing. The school that our kids go to will be requiring face masks. So we have decided to pull the kids from public education and do homeschooling.

What are your thoughts on this?

Our kids are 7 and 9, not sure how they think they are going to keep masks on the kids. Also the part that I don't fell its a good idia because of possibility of infection, rashes and what not. I havnt and won't wear a mask so I don't expect my kids or wife to eather. Our state has a requirement that all employees wear a mask and if my boss asks me to ill tell him to lay me off.

Sorry for the rant just curious of your thought on homeschooling
 
Tell me about LRT i work at a School. K - 6th grade. I dont even know where to start so i wont . I will say all this has caused much anger , Butthurt and Annimousity between the Staff factions here and i really dont like to see this. In my roll as afternoon Custodian i have the unique job that allows me to be friends with all the Staff. Superentedant, Principle, Teachers, Teachers Aids ect. It makes me sad that this has caused alot of the said above in between these groups. Im friends with them all. Believe it or not ive gave Pep talks to the Principle on down to some Teachers aids. There my family and friends and working partners. Washington State and Governor Jay mirror Oregon so you get the picture.
 
We employees that are still working at the school through all this are not required to wear a mask since theres no kids here. We can if we like but nobody does. What next year brings ive no clue. Well actually i do have a clue but it changes like daily whats gonna happen so its useless to talk about. EVEN THE KIDS WANT TO GO BACK TO REGULAR SCHOOL.

Using your spelling, improper use of grammar, and punctuation as a reference point, I feel bad for you kids being home schooled. Especially if you’re equally skilled in math and science.

I was not going to wear a mask to get my haircut---(buzz cut my self with DOG CLIPPERS) I used to wear it that way for years ....cheap-- cooler here in the swamp-- and FREE-- thanks -- Ill keep doing it--Hair is over rated and its FALLING OUT any way so this way when I am bald no one will REALLY notice ;)

I was also NOT wearing a mask to go buy guitar strings at guitar center Sat...so -- I saved

and masks
I ordered 2 sets from Amazon that arrived in UNDER 24 hours to my front door step for 1/2 what GC wanted......

Covid is being blamed for Jc Pennys and Pier One and other retailers going out of business however that was just the big final nail IMHO -- its AMAZON -- cheaper than I could go buy them myself locally -- delivered to my door ---WHY would I NOT do that ????
YES, I had to WAIT ....but -- I was not in a HURRY anyway .....

My current employer has assisted in the construction of 4 HUGE Amazon facilities (within a 2 hour drive radius) of my house -- there have been 4 more we BID on and 5 built we were not involved with ...........in the last 5 years...............
we are talking MILLIONS of sq. ft. of warehouse --- parking for 10;s of THOUSANDS of vans.....just in my "back yard"

We home schooled my son for several years in the end of elementary school/middle school-- he wanted to go to High school (I think to be able to say he graduated from KEY WEST HIGH ............I mean I dont THINK he was HIGH .....damn it ....er........anyway

LRT....there are great programs for Home Schooling-- follow your heart-- they are YOUR KIDS not the SYSTEMS. ;)

This is an extremely dangerous virus which is 100 times more contagious than influenza.
Most adults I have observed are really not taking few if any precautions at all.
Why "wouldn't you" try to protect your own children?
Protecting your family is a lot more important than any consideration about "how good" home schooling is, or not.
Safety should be the priority. Not money or anything else.

Just Noticed that: in places that have reopened, the number of infections is sky-rocketing, and the hospitals are already nearing full capacity.
America was not ready to re-open.
You are about to see "bad" go to much worse.

I wear a mask when I am going to be around people. I absolutely hate it, but it's not about me.

Kids are the perfect conduit for viruses. Even if they wear masks they will bring home the pox on their hands, etc. Schools won't be safe.

On the other hand homeschooling will not prepare kids for society regardless of how well they learn. Of course if there is no society none of this matters.

I wear a N95 mask too, and do all types of precautions. We sterilize the food packages and beer bottles.
I sterilize the steering wheel, the gear shift and everything else...
We change shoes, and sterilize the bottoms every time we leave home and return.
But still, that may prove to be inadequate.
Take care of yourselves out there.
 
I was told working in a public school is like working in a peitre dish. The first year i worked here i bout died from a bacterial infection from somethin here. washing out garbages cans with a cut on my knuckle but since then nothing has fazed me goin on 5 years. I seen staff sick for days on end last year and every one figured it was just a bad bug year but im not so sure covid wasnt floating around here along time ago. I really dont know for sure.

A surprising number of people were home schooled.
Lincoln, Tesla, several Presidents, many successful people.

The school was a petri dish "before" COVID-19.
Now, a bit worse.

Again @LRT the PROGRAMS that exist for home schooling can actually give kids a Better QUALITY of WELL ROUNDED education than the one the "system" needs them tested for to "lock in"their funding and protect their jobs.

I personally know several (now) adults that were home schooled with my Son (who is a moderately successful 29 year old) -- as are the kids that where home schooled at the same time

its safe to say --- the "education" that is presented CURRENTLY is not the same one WE ALL (in our 40's---60's.....70's) where PRIVILEGED to have.

there are NO arts programs-- no MUSIC programs-- no SHOP CLASS-----NO VOCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES at most schools

I have friends in Welding, one that is a LARGE farm/ranch owner
and one that owns a A/c and heating company

ALL went to VOCATIONAL school in HIGH SCHOOL to learn the trades they now enjoy and make a living, feed their families and service the community from
 
We here at my small town school was actually gonna hire a REAL PE TEACHER NEXT FALL. But all this started so im not sure the status of that. We do have a music teacher and Choir but im not sure on the status of that next year either.

I agree. Same with our medical system, but oddly, you need to go outside the mainstream, to get clear alternative views. There are different theories for what a virus actually is.

I saw a very convincing short video presentation, that virus', are the body's own healing response to cellular poisoning or cellular damage. I mean think about it, you have a cell with damaged cell parts in it, it only makes sense to get the unusable parts out of the cell, so that the cell can function more properly. Yet this reaction to healing the cell, is viewed as the problem, not as part of healing.

Two steps forward, three steps back. hehe Don't let what is mainstream, be confused with what is the best path. Far from it. There's a very good reason why over half the united states now has pro cannabis laws going in defiance of the federal reefer mania prohibition policies. So the fact that the government can be so wrong, and for so long (1937 marijuana tax act locked us into our petrochemical domination), is frankly quite unsettling, such that their best recourse is self correction or weed the people, will correct this injustice, and when that happens, the weed will truly be freed.

The virus is more like AIDS.
It shuts down the immune system.
This is far worse than most people have been led to understand.
No, this is not the flu.
