I saw this on AXS TV channel. It's a recent reunion. The band has many members going way back including Woodstock (drummer, etc.) and the original lead vocalist of most of the old hits.

Santana's PRS looks like a Les Paul. I like the tone much better.

Funny Satin-tana playing his Mesa amp must have burned all his bridges like he did with me in 2014 No Bludotone or Dumble amps
 
I liked his tone better when he used Gibson guitars. He sold his soul to PRS. This guitar looks Les Paul like: thick body, covered humbuckers. I think it works better for his style of playing.

Seems he's been playing those Singlecuts a lot lately (heck they even have a Santana SE Singlecut now).

Those guitars through that Mark I is the best tone I've ever heard him have, hands down.

Carlos and Mesa Boogie Today

The viability of the Mesa Boogie sound is evidenced by the amount of players that still use the amps, as well as the entire "boutique" amp industry (Bogner, Matchless, Rivera, et al). It's safe to say that the Mesa Boogie amplifier is an important thread in the guitar tones of the last four decades.

Until recently, Carlos Santana has used Mesa Boogies almost exclusively. An indredible testimonial when you consider that the "Santana Guitar Tone" is an enormous amount of his fame and success. Although Carlos has now incorporated Dumble and Fender amps into his setup, the Boogie remains his central amplifier.

In the end, the relationship between Carlos Santana and Mesa Boogie is one that has been incredibly successful for both parties. If Mesa Boogie helped Carlos create his sound, he in turn became the most visible spokesman for the company, and appeared in several ads during the '70s, '80s and '90s. A match made in heaven!


NEver knew Carlos used a Dumble -----thought he credit that "Santana sound" partly to the Mesa AMps---
 
He's literally the guy that named them "Boogie" and he's used them since way back. He fiddles around with other amps at times but the Mark I is his core sound and has been for many years. I was listening and noting that the Singlecut through the Mk I is a particularly nice tone. He uses the Mesa as his main sound and supplements it with the other amps - this is from a couple years ago:
