My first bass was a Teisco with a body shape a little bit like that. The headstock was cooler though.
Metal pickguard & headstock plate, with anodized stripes. Or maybe they were etched?
Mine was metallic blue - more like Lake Placid than Pelham - but I haven't found a pic of one in that color.
It cost $75. Now you see people asking $900 for them on eBay.

I always liked the look of non-reverse Firebirds. The green one looks especially nice to me for some reason.
Maybe just because you don't see many Gibsons in Inverness green.

I bet those are a little less ungainly than regular Thunderbirds, which feel like they're about half a mile long.
Here's mine, Thunderbeast. (I sorta had that old Teisco in mind when I custom ordered this one in Deep Impact blue).
