I played Drums on stage for Rick in Seattle when his Drummer was sick and in Juneau Rick showed me great guitar lessons at my house
when he was in town let him use my black face Fender Super Reverb for shows.

Another one gone. I saw him with Johnny Winter way back when.
RIP Rick.
Lucky you. I regret that I never got to witness in person, performances by the great Johnny Winter and Rick Derringer. I still have on vinyl, Johnny Winter's "Live/Johnny Winter And" album... One of my all-time favorites. And my favorite cut on that album is "It's My Own Fault". I think it was the first time I ever got to know who Rick Derringer is. R.I.P. Rick Derringer.

FWIW... At the 7:37 mark, Johnny and Rick go into a Call-and-Answer riff-trading episode. But it's at the 8:11 to 8:15 mark, the Rick does these series of three super bluesy bends that got me hooked ever since. Still sends chills down my spine when I hear it again!

I was sorry to hear of his passing.
