Announced today, Fry's Electronics will cease to exist. The last bastion of electronics in a brick and mortar store.
I remembered my first Fry's visit. I live in the PNW and had never seen one until I went to Arizona. Walked in and went, "HOLY #$%!" I didn't realize that they were Radioshack on steroids. All decked out in some Aztec motif' it was surreal.
While looking around, I see this display of DVDs in the middle of the racetrack, all by itself. A small spin-around display about 6' high. I wander over as the curiosity got the better of me. Nothing around it for at least 20 feet. What could possibly be all by itself like this. I start looking through the DVDs and quickly realize...

A decade later, I traveled to Cali and found another Fry's, this time decked out as Alice in Wonderland. Even more surreal than the last Fry's I visited. Years later I returned to that same store, and it was 3/4 empty. Super sad. Now, they are all going away.
