Reverb payment procedure changes

In case you didn't get the email, payments to sellers will only be made through "Reverb Payments" (although they will accept Paypal from buyers). I had a bad experience with this form of payment in that they refused to pay me until the already shipped item was marked received. This means that you must have tracking or depend on the buyer to mark it received before getting paid, and delays in shipping result in delays in payment to the seller. In the meantime they hold the money. The below says:
  • When an item sells, your funds will simply be deposited directly into your bank account.
but you may want to verify this change of policy. I am uncertain of any other policies that would affect sellers, but I am suspicious of their motives.

Hi Reverber,

Thanks for choosing to sell on Reverb. We want you to have the best selling experience possible so we’re constantly evaluating and evolving the tools and services we offer to help you sell gear easier and faster.

What’s Changing

  • On May 19, 2020, Reverb Payments will become the exclusive payout option for all sellers.
  • When an item sells, your funds will simply be deposited directly into your bank account.
  • While PayPal will no longer be a payout option, buyers can still purchase using PayPal and all other payment methods accepted via Reverb Payments.

Please take this opportunity to add or confirm your bank information. Just go to your Shop Settings, add the info under “Reverb Payments,” and you’ll be on your way to getting your funds deposited directly into your pocket. Until you add a bank account, your money will simply stay in your Payout Balance.

Why It's Changing

  • Reverb Payments allows us to provide you with the safest possible experience.
  • All transactions made through Reverb Payments qualify for Reverb Protection, so you'll get direct support from a musician who understands the value of your gear in the unlikely event that anything goes wrong with a sale.
  • Reverb Payments also allows you to accept a wide variety of payment methods, which attracts more buyers and helps you sell gear more quickly.

Have questions? More information is available in Reverb’s Help Center.

I haven’t sold on there so I can’t comment on the change, but it does seem anti-seller. I haven’t bought gear since we bought the new house last Labor Day. Just bought something recently and have they always charged sales tax? I don’t remember that.

Yes, this was mybexperience when I sold a guitar onbReverb a while ago. It took almost 2 weeks before I actually had the money. Tracking was more or less mandatory.

Sales tax is new - Supreme Court decision killing internet sales.

Ebay is still an alternative. All members are welcome to list here as well.

I knew this was coming when they were bought by Etsy! Maybe even worse things down the road. They will turn Reverb into another F'd up eBay clone.

I always felt safe as a seller on Reverb because I knew they didn't let the bad buyers walk all over the seller like eBay and Etsy do. I only have a small
amount of gear left to move and it looks like I better get busy for the whole process goes to :poo::poo:

So close to having the gear needed & the non used gone..see a difficult time ahead in general for gear The buyers can almost play things for a bit & then ship it back these days. Wouldn't want to be a seller anymore.

We have a a very aggressive CL here & things move at close to what they should sell for .

I just sold some small stuff Friday---
--as I have found IF YOU USE THE REVERB SHIPPING OPTIONS--- as in click and ship through reverb-- once the label is printed the funds are "available" and once its scanned at -- UPS -- USPS wherever -- then they payout in about 24 hours---

Yes, I agree...Reverb was "fair" to sellers unlike EBay, once I switched I never went back to EBay even though EBay lowered their prices to compete. And Reverb saved me from bad buyers a couple of times, if it were EBay I would have been screwed. I'll give Reverb the benefit of the doubt until I start hearing horror stories, I rarely sell anymore anyway.
