Red Flag Warning In Effect:

Yesterday, Cal State announced a campus closure through the 31st due to winds exceeding 80mph. These high winds are common in our area and they seem to accelerate down the hillside taking everyone's trash cans down the hill in a huge pile. The winds started about 2:15am this morning and are beyond expectation. the weather station at cal-State just down the hill recorded one gust at 4:40am at 115mph. The last time we had winds over 80mph, it blew big rigs over and derailed a train. Do a search for 'Fontana Tornado' and 'Lake Elsinore Tornados' and you will see some real eye-opening videos.

Here's a couple of shots I took in 2017 on my commute into Hollywood. This is westbound 210 Freeway in Fontana around Sierra Avenue

I would be parking under and overpass, or head it into the wind down a side street...
Yeah, then the truck driver will get a ticket for parking in a no parking zone or a no truck zone...

I can personally vouch for how vicious those winds can get in that general area. It's been over 30 years since I drove a truck through there. Even wind gusts of 50 mph is enough to move a truck with an empty load around to give you some white knuckles.

And if it ain't the wind, sometimes it's the pea-soup fog. I remember crawling through that area in fog so thick that I had to slow down to about 5 mph with the driver-side window down so I can stick my head out and see the lane markers! I didn't want to stop cuz I was afraid I was going to get hit from behind by a bigger moron than myself...:facepalm:

Fires are everywhere! I was driving on the 405 Sunday Night / Early Monday morning and witnessed the tree limb falling that started the Getty Fire. It's
still burning and I saw this morning another fire has started in Simi Valley. I hope they get them under control. A lot of homes have been lost in the past
two weeks and these are not all home out in the boonies where you might expect a fire.

News says "for the first time EVER and Extreme Red Flag Warning is in effect". For the last two weekends I've barely beat two fires that closed the only
freeway to my house. Hopefully all the dry stuff has burned up and I'll make it home safe tomorrow. The wife is coming home from Korea and I'd hate
to get stuck somewhere...

I have also seen them flip onto their sides on the overpass 15 south to 60 east
