Prop Guitar For Hendrix Flaming Guitar Re-creation Video:

I got a plywood Stratocaster body from one of our members and a neck from another. I have a pickguard and knobs, all non working, import junk.

I need the following junk parts:

1. Stock Strat 6 hole tremolo bridge

2. Neck plate and 4 screws

3. Trem claw and screws

4. Angled Strat input jack cover.

5. Tuning keys

Donations welcome... :-)

I got those, and forgot to look for a pickguard I swapped out that may have the jack plate.
I'll look again this evening.
PM me your address and I'll send them along in the next day or so.

That just leave the neck plate and screws.

I'm excited about this project. We are now thinking of maybe doing something different and actually focusing on playing the guitar for the video while it is on fire...

I can run a wick along the upper back of the neck, soak it with lighter fluid, and likely play a few parts for the video.

Im on the fence about "conjuring" the guitar while its burning on the floor. Hendrix looked cool doing this, but im afraid i would look like an old guy who fell down and set the guitar on fire as a sort of rescue signal...

I'm also hoping to not destroy the guitar outright, which conjuring certainly would it seems.

Thoughts???

I'm so excited with the parts i am getting from @jtcnj and @SG John that i have decided to build an actual, playable guitar.

I have always hated the 'pantomimed' Performances, like Top Of The Pops,' that i am changing directions.

I told the video producer that, even though i will be performing to a backing track (to keep things in synch) i insisted on actually playing along with the backing track, so i will be using my 1984 Jackson 4x12 Motorhead cabinet along with a borrowed JCM800 head, powered by a generator.

This is the fugly GFS pickguard that i have been unable to give away.

Since the yellow plywood body i got from SG-John is routed HSH, i am going to outfit this with some old Jackson pickups i got from Adrian, along with a very basic wire harness.

By using a layer of aluminum foil over the top of the pickguard and along the back of the neck, i can minimize the damage done to the guitar to cosmetic only..

I want to have a believable performance, and playing along to my recording will keep all the hand movements in the correct positions.

The "conjuring" would be save for last, since the strings will be wiped out by the flames.

Im also toying with the idea of running a hose and tube up the back of the guitar and spraying WD-40 through it while the fire is burning, so this massive jet of flames will erupt from the guitar, as if a spirit has emerged from it.

Silly, i suppose....bit i like this sort of thing...

I was wondering if you finished this and I missed it.
Looking forward to it; just keep safety in mind so things dont go sideways.

While I enjoy sideways kind of inferno videos, like folks deep frying a frozen turkey or put too much oil in the fryer, I wouldn't want to see a friend's project go all Hindenburg.
Hindenburg - The Lakehurst NJ Naval Air Base is (was) probably less than 20 miles from me.
It is now Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.

The plan now is to make the guitar 100% playable. Then, cover the back of the neck with copper tape and nail/tack a wick to the upper/back of the neck, which will be soaked in lighter fluid and ignited for the scene...

is your PROP guitar PROP 69 compliant?????

will harmful or cancer causing materials (known ONLY to the state of Californication) be ON this guitar when its lit?

are you prepared for LONG jail time after this event?

.06 spotted owls may PERISH because of your egotistic display of hedonism--hero worship and ROCK N ROLL -- are YOU prepared for the media ONSLAUGHT that will occur form this heinous act to destroy the plant?
