Fitted a US made 920D (Sigler) wiring harness and pots.
Had to open the holes up to 10mm on guitar top to take the new pot thread. Possibly was an imperial size but 10mm was close enough for me. Now I'm unsure if the spline in my existing knobs is incorrect or if the new shafts are just a little tighter. They don't really want to go on as far now compared with the old pot fit. Don't want to force them on in case new knobs and spline size is required.
Comments please?

Wouldn't that make my cheap Chinese knobs loose on the USA shaft?
Mine are too tight and I'm not comfortable forcing them on further.
 
The splines very possibly are incorrect. Do you have the specs of the knob and the pot to know exactly how many splines are involved?

Some pots or knobs will simply specify "fine" or "coarse" splines. I've had less than perfect results relying on this. I've had fine-splined knobs not fit entirely well on fine-splined pot shafts, for example. What I look for now is an actual numeric specification, such as "18 splines." There are other values, but the 18 spline shafts are fairly common.

As an alternative, you can get unsplined knobs that use a set-screw to tighten onto the shaft. But, you may not be able to find these in a style you like.

18 on the shaft and 18 in the knob.
I wouldn't expect other as if the number varied between shaft and knob they would never start.
What I have is a firm slide then at about 75% engagement they become uncomfortable for me to push harder.
I sent an email off to 920D asking for comment.
