Point Nemo

Why don't you show us how you get such a killer sound on your recordings?
I record DI into Reaper.

Then I re-amp the guitars into amps I have.

The rhythm are always run into my home-built JCM800

This pic was from when I installed a passive loop. This allows me to run the preamps I have into the JCM800 power section, while bypassing the stock preamp.

I have a Ceriatone AH-50 I built a while back for other "gainier" tones.

From the amp(s) I go into a home-built reactive load, based on Randall Aiken's designs.

Once signal goes from this device into my audio interface (Scarlett 2i2) and into my DAW (Reaper) I mix individual tracks to my taste.

I use Steven Slate drums 5.5 and I use a SansAmp bass preamp.

I use this on every track I recorded since last August.

Do you write, and play(program drums etc), all of the backing tracks?
That’s some righteously prodigious shizz, if so!!! Well done sir!

Since I got into this.. back in 2023, I was only recording one guitar track (acapella, so to speak).

More as a demonstration of tone, and to get feedback on the tones.

Next, I started using drum tracks I pulled down off YouTube, and multi-tracking guitars.

I managed to make contact with several talented YouTube creators, whom I work with to create tracks.

A drummer in Scotland, a songwriter/guitarist in the Netherlands.. etc. Whether it's modding/building amps or recording, I tend to find people more intelligent/experienced in the craft than me, and ask them questions so I can learn.

My interests for the past couple months has been in soloing over chord progressions, and teaching myself to write melodies and harmonies - while simultaneously trying my best to shred over the entire 2-1/2 minute track.

Well then….don’t let me interrupt….by all means, keep up the good work.

I think you are a very talented person and a privilege to see you in TTR forum.
Both musically and technically talented.

Man, I'm just a hack who used to play in cover bands.

:ROFLMAO:

I'm having fun with the entire "home studio" trip these days.

It's nice to not have to deal with other band members who either can't, or don't want to play what you wanna play. Having complete freedom to compose riffs, and put together music without having to constantly compromise.

That's what Jeff Beck said.

These here are interesting times we're living in, to be sure..

A guitar player does not have to go to a record label, hat-in-hand, and beg for studio time and/or compromise their vision for some A&R wonk, or random producer.

For a paltry sum, a guitarist these days can setup a private home studio in an unused bedroom, and just make music.
