pickup switch pops/snaps

I noticed that all my guitars have a slight snap/pop when I switch pickup positions. Any tips, tricks, or solutions? Even my brand new Solar pops when I switch between positions.

I noticed that all my guitars have a slight snap/pop when I switch pickup positions. Any tips, tricks, or solutions? Even my brand new Solar pops when I switch between positions.

What I have found regarding switching pops is that there can be something (like a resistor or other) between the 2 switch contacts to bridge (or lesson) the difference between them.

This concept also works for channel switching relays pops.

There can also be a make -before- break switch, which is what that type (MBB) contact was made for.
Which is establishing contact before breaking the other contact.

It may also be worsened by the type of amp input circuit, or pops being amplified / intensified with various effects pedals particular circuitry.

You can probably decrease the pop using one or more variation of those methods.




But I might try 2.2Meg resistors or 4.7Meg or 10meg...I don't know yet, I would need to test some different ones.

OK try a resistor to ground from the outputs of each pickup.
