Going through old pics and found this.1967. My Father playing a Fender Esquire through a big old Fender amp set up. Anyone got a idea of what that piece of Fender gear is ontop of the amp ?? Reverb unit maybe ? Thats a Gibson Barney Kessel leaning up against the amp. No i dont have any of this stuff but i wish i did.

It does appear to be a bandmaster to me from what I just researched. I guess that could be a reverb unit, not sure what else? I haven't found one with that angled front though. Hmmm.

Fender did not manufacture any 1960s standalone reverb units with an
angled front panel.
The original
Model 6G15
standalone reverb unit, produced from 1961 to 1966, was consistently housed in a rectangular cabinet with a flat front. While its cosmetic coverings (Tolex) changed to match Fender's evolving amplifier lines—shifting from brown/blonde to black—the physical box shape remained a straight-sided rectangle.

What would that be???

It does appear that Fender made a SS reverb unit with an angled front starting in 67 but that pic is early 67....matches it perfectly.

Seems weird to have this huge small amp sized box on top of your amp to get...ew... spring reverb!!
