Pathetic

I have no use for people who drink and drive or use drugs and drive..

In my 50+ years of driving….. especially when I was a stupid kid….. I was behind the wheel a few times and shouldn’t have been. But never a bottles worth of whiskey bad. Today if we’re out. I may have one or two margaritas at the Mexican restaurant….. but you can darn near see our house from there. Just about any place else, I have the water or a Sprite.

Even at home I’m pretty much a one and done these days…. whether it’s a beer or a cocktail. I’m already to the point of 9:00 pm is bedtime. A little alcohol and I’m falling asleep watching TV….. at 7. :pound-hand:

Crazy stats:

A friend of mine is a Police Officer, and he said since they have legalized canabis drug driving accidents have increased. Then you have those that drive drunk and use drugs at the same time.

Drug-impaired driving

Drugs, including cannabis, can impair your ability to drive safely and increase the risk of getting into a collision. In fact, impaired driving is the leading criminal cause of death and injury in Canada, and drug-impaired driving detected by law enforcement is increasing. The percentage of Canadian drivers killed in vehicle crashes who test positive for drugs now exceeds the numbers who test positive for alcohol.
Getting behind the wheel while impaired by drugs is not only dangerous, it's against the law. Trained police officers and Drug Recognition Experts can determine if you are under the influence of a drug and can charge you with impaired driving. You can have your license suspended, face fines, criminal charges, and even jail time.

Don't get me wrong here, drunk driving is a crime and rightfully so. That said: we never actually see any drunk driving occur in the video. We hear a caller make a claim, and see police roll up on what appears to be a parked vehicle....we don't actually even see the occupant of the vehicle, except only briefly, when he walks to the rear of the vehicle to be arrested. He doesn't appear to be stumbling over himself when he does so. Then we are shown a brief PSA about the dangers and some statistics of drunk driving. Next we see two officers gloating in front of the dashcam, over the "size" of their "catch" as if it's sport, immediately before we are shown the name and logo of the department that sponsored the advertisement......

Now, my head's not so far up my ass that I don't realize that it's footage from a legitimate arrest, and that the wasted guy is guilty and everything...

....But that video doesn't actually show us anything criminal other than maybe possibly "physical control of a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol" ...IF he was in fact intoxicated, but we don't see any field sobriety tests, BAC tests, or blood drawn, therefore, no proof of intoxication is actually shown to us in the video.

I didn't see any crime actually occur in that video.
