Knowing that the gold wears really fast, I was wondering if there are any "coated" options available???

Thats what i personally like about the gold hardware is when its about half worn off lol. Nickel or Chrome looks good on a LPC.

I've never, ever, seen any examples of gold plated guitar hardware that remained pristine after only a short period of usage and time. You might have to use pure gold...

Do you mean something that's clear-coated?

You may be able to do that yourself if you can't find something already made that way.

I've used clear acrylic before for other uses. It is crystal clear; you can't even tell it's there, aside from the sheen.

However, I'm not too sure how well it would hold up under normal playing wear, especially if applied to a really smooth surface, like a pickup cover.
