Human metapneumovirus (HMPV): it's potentially as virulent as COVID-19, respiratory syncytial virus, and influenza, yet few people have heard of it. In fact, most people who've caught it probably didn’t even know they had it. Indeed, sick people aren't usually tested for it outside of a hospital or ER. Furthermore, there is no vaccine or antiviral drugs to combat it.

Now, China is dealing with a new virus outbreak, as HMPV spreads quickly, leading to flu-like and COVID-19-like symptoms. Social media is buzzing with claims of a new epidemic overwhelming hospitals and crematories in the country, and users have posted videos showing overcrowded hospitals, claiming a fast-spreading mix of "multiple viruses."

While unconfirmed reports claim that China has declared a state of emergency, it can be verified that health authorities are vigilantly monitoring the situation as the virus spread
