25 years ago I mailed a demo tape with a few songs to a producer in Nashville. No response.
A couple of months later I read an article about how the country band Alabama would ride in their tour bus with Hefty bags filled with demo tapes for them to give a listen to and discover their next big hit song. Shopping your music then was a tough sell.
It's nearly impossible these days.

Yeah, it’s crazy competitive. But if I could just make a friend at RCA A&R….
