got it to run off axis guitar & bass..i backed the bass out on the song i working on.
Tjsmls for tip !!Used this & dynamic..very good capture.. got some good hump & some bass wave travel.. mic'd ribbon bout 6' back on an angle..it opened things up a lil..also was conscientous of the noise i made on pulling my bass strings too hard at heavy passages..ahh the things a good pre will reveal in ones playing..
 
That MXL is rated to take 130Db. Ribbon mic’s exhibit proximity effects....so if you bring it in close, you will notice some increase in bass response....and the mic should deal with it well.
