Back in the late 80s, one of my buddies bought the first Ibanez Sabre they had for sale at our local music store in the Wash DC area. He brought it straight over to show it off to us. After playing it for like .2 seconds I was totally in love.

It wasn't until 2015 that I was able to get my hands on a nice Fujigen made Sabre, a 91 540SLTD that I've since had painted in Corvette 'Blue Me Away'.

Absolutely love the guitar, but don't play it very often simply because my sloppy technique has me hitting the center single coil when I'm really getting after it. I've removed the single coil, run the pickup cover all the way down and it still drives me nuts.

So, I started looking for an HH Sabre, but they're few and far between.

Recently, I decided I wanted another 7 string to offset my two Jacksons. I absolutely love my Pro Series H7, but the Franken7 doesn't make me want to play it that much.

Over the weekend, I noticed this 2014 S7521 on my local FB Marketplace. It seemed like the perfect box ticker. Not to mention 7 string Sabres are not easy to find.

I then thought to myself, "Well if it's meant to be my Soloist will sell this weekend." An hour later it sold on eBay.

Reached out to the seller of the S7521, who had just dropped the price from $400 to $300. We negotiated a bit and landed on $250. He lives about an hour from me, so I drove over to his town Sunday AM to meet up in a Walmart parking lot per his request. After sitting there for 20 minutes, it was obvious he wasn't gonna show up. I headed back home, pretty irritated I'd wasted over 2 hours of my day for nothing.

Well, on the way home he finally replied to my message and apologized saying he overslept and he felt super bad. He offered to bring it to me yesterday and to make up for my inconvenience, he gave it to me for $220.

It's been sitting in a case for quite some time as he bought it brand new to jam with a buddy doing extended range stuff, but said those songs just weren't for him and he went back to playing his tried & true 6-string songs.

It needed a good cleaning and some fresh strings, but overall it's in pretty nice shape. Has a little shallow buckle rash on the back and some minor swirl marks on the front which I'm pretty sure I could buff out if I was so inclined. I did file down a few sharp fret edges this morning and want to eventually replace the bridge, knobs and tuners with black Hipshot stuff - especially the bridge which just looks cheap/crappy. But for now, it does the job, scratches the itch and will make a great compliment to my H7.

It's not even in the same league with my Fujigen 540SLTD, but not much is, so I'm happy with that.
