OK, so I bought the Epiphone LP Special I P90 and the Epiphone SG Special I just because they went on sale.

I had every intention of flipping both of them once the price went back up...but THAT is NOT going to happen at least for the SG.

She is a beautiful sparkly metallic Pelham Blue. And here is the down right unbelievable part...

Tuned it up right out of the box with plastic still on the pups...tuned perfectly, intonation PERFECT! Action as low as any of my guitars ZERO Fret buzz in any position on any string!!!

Are you Fvking kidding me! How can this be for only $99???

This thing blows that $499 Gibson M2 that I paid $299 for OUT of the WATER! and even at $299 I can buy 3 of these...and if I see them on sale for $99 again I WILL!!!

Yes it's that good...

Now the bad...the Tuners are $hit and will be immediately replaced as are the strings...PUP's you say, well not too bad and no rush to swap those out....

The Chibson is still a better guitar even at double the price, but for $99 this thing ROCKS!

The M2 was terrible IMO. The Epi SG I just got for $99 is better.

Nothing wrong in a stellar way I guess, but it was not worth even the $299 I paid. It is a shot in the foot for Gibson to sell them with the Gibson name IMO. They should stick to Epiphone for their low cost guitars because the Chinese can make a WAY better guitar for the small amount of money. Obviously labor cost and environmental regulations come into play so they should not try and compete with themselves...

I wouldn't touch one of the M2's for the $499 full price! I returned mine even at the $299 price.

There is also no way to try before you buy because the M2 is an Amazon Exclusive...however you can return it easily.

Congrats on a sleeper gem. Welcome to the club. They are basic no frills but very capable and playable rock machines.
Possibly the most offensive to the cork sniffer crowd; I like that.

I'm a believer.
The used SG I had I did not mod and I wish I would have kept it. That one needed some bloodthirsty fret end work and a neck shim to get the set up right.
In hindsight I should have kept it for slide and could have skipped the neck shim, but i learned how to do it so it was worth the time. A better set of tuners is all I would have done. Maybe a budget pickup upgrade down the road, but maybe not. A buddy of mine has it and loves it.

The used SG Jr. HB fretboard was crusty and the frets were tarnished with rusty strings. The neck and fret plane were pretty good, just a little fret end dressing and a lot of clean up made it great. I may do a lite fret level to make it even better.
I put on $5. chicom tuners that were better but slackety. The cheapy GFS Mean 90 I got used is just fine. The stock nut and bridge are fine.
I ordered another set of tuners because she is worthy.
I dont think I'll ever let this one go. The electronics are fine and will stay until something fails.
Love the yellow too.

This is my go to when my back is giving me hell, so it gets played a lot.
I will be on the prowl for more of them dirt cheap from the crowd of first time players who give up.

From what I have read the LP100 is another good one too.
