New (used) Bare Knuckle Pickups

So yeah, I did buy the Bare Knuckle Black Dogs from Dirty Steve. My friend Rob in England (Lex Lurid of old ETSG days) had been bugging me to give a set of Bare Knuckle pickups a try since Tim Mills first started making them. Like buying a Matamp, the exchange rate between our play money and the Pound Sterling had always put me off. Since Steve hardly used them, I thought the price was right and decided to finally take the plunge. He did a top notch job of making sure they shipped safely to me. At first, I didn't know what I would use them in, but I think the specs are perfect for an unfinished project that I need to make some time for finally finishing. I think they'll look great in the Korina Explorer when it's finished. They're slightly hotter and better suited for an Explorer than the Scatterbrains that I bought several years ago for that project. I think I'll save those for the second V that is also in progress.

Now........ to clean up the cellar so I can start doing some work down there again....

That looks like a fun project, I look forward to progress. What finish you planning?

It's going to get a slightly amber natural finish. Just like my Flying V. I like the large chevron pattern to the grain. It was also very expensive ($275.00 about ten years ago) so I don't want to hide the beauty of the lumber. I still haven't decided on which tailpiece to use. I was going to use the spare Lyre Vibrola that I bought years ago, but it hides the grain pattern. It will most likely get a stop bar and ABR-1.

There are mock-up photos in this old thread.

I responded to that thread, by the way in that thread there was a knucklehead and in this one bare knuckles, coincidence? I think not.:ROFLMAO:

John was very helpful on the information on building a Explorer I needed around $500.00 more in tools
when covid hit I got a 2000 Explorer LE from Japan $1200.00 but they changed the pickups to Seymour Duncan hated the sound
I had a set of early Pat # pickups with gold screws the guitar had never been played and had a TP6 tailpiece from the 1970's
that fit found out the Explorer LE are some what rare made from 2000/2001 big chunky neck.
