I have been on the lookout for some time for a Marshall JMD 501 50 watt 1x12 combo. Finally found 1 in Edmonton. We have friends there who come to visit fairly often. Will get it Fri.
Now, I have a JMD 50 watt head that I will trade in.
Reasoning.
I wanted it initially to keep at the jamspace when I was with Aftetglow till that went south. Since it is a full sized head, I will need a full width 2x12 minimum to use it properly. I have a JVM401H to use for full sized head and it doesn't use presets for any channels, it has 4 full sets of controls.
That makes the JMD head sorta pointless.
A 1x12 combo has much of the versatlity and tonality of a JVM with the semi useful/useless built in fx. Good for practices and rehearsals, small venues.
These things sound great! I don't need tons of tones, just a few good ones I like. No LCD screen or computer hookup, the extra channels are presets but I can still use the panel settings for basic rhythm sounds.
I think it will be very handy and fun to play!!
