New (but not new ) Tone Tubby day

I have been playing this clone of a brown Deluxe for a couple weeks and it sounds great but I have always had a hard time dialing in the "just rite" speaker. I spotted this Tone Tubby 40/40 on the local CL and snagged it. Stuck it in replacing a Crex, and it was okay but probably not "better". So mildly dissapointed I plugged in the Ori 20c into it and hit the SD-1 and sha wing! Pretty sure it will displace the Emminence GB 128 in the Origin now. But I swap speakers like I change underwear so the usual once a month change, you know. :pound-hand:

Try a 25 watt green back if you can
I have a few, and love them. 2 that I have are pulsonic cone (well one is a 25 watt M magnet and one is a 30 watt H magnet) are in a 2 x 12 together and that cab is awesome. I have a GB reisue (chineese) in a closed back 1 x 12 that is pretty great for lower volume practice. I have however been on the prowl for that higher wattage speaker for the combo for the grab and go stuff. I have a pile of speakers amd pretty much love them all ( well most ).
Speaks I cuurently have
- Celestion Blue
- Celestion Gold
- Celestion G12H30 70th anniversary
-Celestion GB reissue
- 2 V 30's one older one newer
- 2 60's GB's
- M 65 Cream back
-H 75 Cream back
- Emminence GB 128
- Emminece Maverick
- Allesandro Alnico 59
- Red fang
- 2 Crex
--Webber blue dog
- Webber 12 A 125
- oh too many my lunch is ready. :victoire:

So in a side by side comparison, which is not at all equal as the Greenback is in an oversized 1x12 closed back the Tone Tubby is in the small-ish open back combo. But it is pretty much what you might imagine the GB is brighter and a bit more break-up and sizzle. The Tone Tubby has rolled off highs and a bit less sizzle. But both have a great crunch factor. The Ori 20c is a pretty bright amp even with the treble way down. But neither is a loser here.
