Dig this one. Does the heavies like it should. But been exploring the cleans & mid gain. Mesa excells at this possibly as much as the heavies. Clean channel has a pull knob that takes it to edge of break clean. Very good pairing with the mesa cab. Got this head to go back n forth to bandroom. Very easy clean-mid-brootz amp to set. Was just serviced by Mesa.DC5 4x12.jpgDC5 head.jpg

Congrats, that's one hell of an amp.

In total agreement with cleans and mid-gain settings on Mesa's. They're so well-known for high gain that it seems they get overlooked for other applications. The Clean and Fat modes on my Mk 5 go toe-to-toe with any Blackface or Tweed Fender and take pedals better than any Fender amp I've played. The Crunch channel pretty much dispenses with the need for owning a Marshall.

Agreed !! Spent the day on clean chain with the gain pulled. my gosh, the touch dynamics..then the real kicker. Turned the Master up & the other vol level down & got very..very nice tube power involved. Had to wheel the super reverb back in. This thing gets at that Super.. mean right at it. In the 4x12 cab..huge tone. I am not against any gear..but these mesa's are phenomenal amps. Playing and recording as much as i do. So many sounds available. I prefer natiural amp distortion , so many levels available.

You’re on a Mesa roll there B :dood:
1 more in transit..then thats it.. made the rules a long time ago...a/b everything possible till you learned em..Then what fits in the main bandroom. Thats the keepers. Knocked the guitars off in the summer & now the amps. Learned so much by having them side by side,, have a nice tone selection to carry me through. It was a chance of a lifetime to experience it. Really just want to play now.

Will get 1 extra amp at a time cause its my hobby it seems & take it to the tech...then either plug it in the main area & move 1 out or sell it. But no more chasing. I never would of even cared for the gear if the Mrs wasn't house bound..it literally has kept my sanity & gave me something to do & record 1 full song a week. Always was more a player & spent the time on the music.

I'll be darned. watched a bunch of mark iv videos last night & then went on chan 1..pulled gain & dimed it. Really got this thing close..lil Klon Cl kick..serious thick lead & edge of break up crunch. Treble act like a gain after about 5..all kinds of way to make it work at dif levels of lead or crunch, The master up & over all down or Master down & overall up..2 dif amps

then gain Chan..turned the Triple Recto on & got the looper going..the DC5..tho not a recto..it has qualities of the high endness with the gain between 8-10,,then the EQ can really bring the bottom end up..if anything..its brootal but in a serious tight way

Then backed it down & got the plexi & DSL50 out..this thing can roar in the mids with an EQ change the other way..but the notes are way clearer & defined..even under the gain. That sloppiness is not there. If i would of got this or 50 cal+ first 5 years ago..things would be dif..the DC3 can do the el84 vox type thing on the clean channel & then serious lead tone with control.. that might be my fav mids for leads & that rhaspy clean..edgy clean.

Got the Super reverb out & dialed the clean in..sick amp this is..3 sounds pretty much from clean to mid crunch to brootz ..a pedal here & there & is so easy to play. The Black Shadows are the match. Did good on greenbacks..really marshalled up. Got real big & clear on the Orange cab. Very tight with the v30's..each cab radically changed the flavor.

decided to keep the jmp & DSL . make a separate Rig for them together.

Awesome! Seems like a killer amplifier

And I absolutely love the DSL50: absolute tank of an amp
