Goldmember has gone to the Dark Terror Side...

Although it does not go to "11," I'm very excited about the rich low-mids of this amp, along with the minimalist control panel. I find myself leaving the controls alone and playing a lot more. As soon as I really get to know the DT, I'll post a review. It's not a replacement for the Marshall head, though it weighs so much less, and includes a tube-driven effects loop that works well with a Zoom MS-50g. Current sweet spots: Shape at 1:00, Gain at 10:00. At these settings, I can roll off volume on the SG for semi-cleans (or switch to neck pup), and for leads, I can kick in the boost pedal.

I recently got the Micro Terror and I also love the simplicity. Congrats! What's in the cab?

This amp requires no modification, unless you consider tube rolling a mod. For my needs, I wanted to reduce the level of preamp gain by a small percentage. Changing V1 and V2 from ECC83S (12AX7) to 5751 valves achieved my goal. The reduction in gain was primarily evident in V1. My DT came stock with JJs, except for the fx loop's Ruby Tube 12AT7. I replaced this with a JJ ECC81, and I replaced the stock phase inverter valve with a balanced ECC83S JJ. The amp is amazingly quiet now, though it certainly was acceptably quiet before the changes. For our Tone Rooms archives, here's a photo of the layout in my amp, as well as a factory diagram.

I actually am liking the OR15 a lot. Then again I like a little more gain :) I actually didn't like it as much in my sealed cab 2x12. I moved it to the open back 1x12 and bam. I still need to get another 1x12 so I can run 2 at once out of the Orange. I have been running my OR15 paired with my new Lovepedal JTM into the TSA15H all day today. It got loud around here today but fook the neighbors!

Nice. I do love my Micro Terro, although I did think it was a tad dark. JJs tend to be dark. Time for a look under the hood!
