...I am officially 80% service connected disabled. What does this mean other than a jacked up cervical spine, hearing loss and tinnitus to name
a few of the issues? It means I'm going to be getting a monthly paycheck from the VA for the rest of my life. I believe the compensation is
fair seeing as how I'm in constant pain...

I'm in the same boat - literally - with hearing loss from an explosion on board ship during a training evolution.

Chris, I was thinking of you today.
MAN 80 % is something. I am in pain but 100% due to a tough life in construction and sports before that in school and genetics, I am screwed.

BUT here is what I had set aside for you even before reading this thread. I flat out think Roger Waters' Bass tone is so good on this, I just get eargasms whenever I listen with my headphones.

Talk to your doctor, and find out if heroin is right for you.
Heroin - it lets You be You again !

How are you able to keep the full time job and still collect 80% disability?

The way they figure disability has something to do with how bad they screwed your body up and not so much if you can actually function or not.
It's a long drawn out process with a lot of medical exams.

Good to hear you’re finally getting some sort of compensation.

Does that mean we’ll be seeing more “NGD” threads from you?

No, it means my wife will be squirreling away more money for something....

My cousin was an Air Force pilot from1988 to 2000. He flew C130s and C5s the entire time. He has constant tinnitus from how loud the planes were. When he got out he started training with American. His first actual flight as copilot was leaving Miami on 9/11. It never got off the runway and he was furloughed a week later. He finally got called back a few years ago and was flying for the California Air Guard in the meantime. Now he's furloughed again waiting to see if the government gives the airlines more money, or he gets laid off for good. Tough to be a pilot in this century.
