Many of you guys know a little or even more than a little about me. One thing you guys should know is I feel incredibly blessed to know each and every one of you men and women in here and all the folks from all over the globe who in even the smallest of ways, bring a part of your lives to share with others.
I was relaxing awhile on the computer tonight and responding to @gball and @Session 5 in PM's. As my conversations sought to convey with them, my appreciation for their brotherhood and my thanks for the parts they play in encouraging my musical path to further my guitar and bass skills, I brought up our friend @Sp8ctre with Gball. I wound up hunting for any YouTube videos to illustrate my musical path and specific experience on guitar while in my college music class ( guitar) 39 years ago when I was 20.
I mentioned to Gball how I had asked my teacher who turned out was only 3-4 years older than me, but was incredibly good on the guitar. I told Gball that my teacher played the rhythm part as I played the lead part in front of fellow music students for my final grade. We did this on the church stage and despite my nerves, I pulled it off. After finishing, I felt such a rush that I wished I knew more songs and could have played a mini concert so to speak.
Anyhow, Flash back from today to October 30, 2022 at approximately 2:15 PM. My mom went home to Jesus. Ever since hearing the news from the head guy at the nursing home about 15 minutes later, Mom brought me incredible peace tohandle her death, her funeral arrangements, her send off, and now her whole estate set of affairs. Her stroke she experienced in July 2021 may have robbed her of her independence, use of her right side, and even speech, but until her last breath, she was tough as nails and had the grip of Samson in her left hand. All 85 lbs of her that remained filled me with strength that has given me power not to be sad, power to express sincere and deep gratitude to all her friends, my friends, strangers and even people I haven't met yet. SO,as I was doing with Gball and Session5 ( Norm) I thank you all for the parts you have blessed me with in friendship and my musical pursuits over the years we have spent here and those to come.
Now for a bit of irony. I was telling Gball how the song I learned and performed live for the very first time of playing a whole song start to finish, was Triumph's Epilogue Resolution. ( I played it on my beloved former first guitar - my guessed at the true build year/1979 Ebony Les Paul Std) Then I tried to find a clip of the song done well by anyone, on Youtube to share with Gball. AND this is what I found.
That song is not a pro recorded or record label quality example, but it is virtually a raw depiction of a simple song, but as I remember doing the lead parts, I was taught all the nuances and playing skills seen here like volume swells, palm muting, multi string bends, hammer-ons, pull offs, arpeggios, etc, for a 0 skilled super beginner player as I was, I felt incredibly enabled by my teacher and through practice to have learned these skills.
Anyway, here I am after messaging Gball, I pull up these guys doing a rendition of Triumph's Magic Power.
As I am listening, I feel compelled to share with Scott and fellow guitar player, how I almost feel like MOM is passing on HER magic power for me to have found them playing this awesome song. and yes, I am M Lasch, the first person to post a comment to Scott on their clip.
It gets even better, after I finish listening, I pull up this clip below. AND You will never guess who come out to join Scott.
To all my Brothers and Sisters here on the Tone Rooms Forum and all over the world. Thank you for sharing the Magic Power of Music, the Magic Power my mom gave me, and the Magic Power you all bring to your loved ones and anyone you touch with your love and lives. Thanks for letting me share my stories of Mom, Music and Miracles.
