Here's my latest.

In this shot I'm in the middle of the solo on my '80s-inspired version of Smoke on the Water.

You'll notice the Jackson is the ax of choice for the job!

Very cool!

Speaking of SOTW we had a very funny moment in a gig we played a couple of months ago, I'll post about it later, but in a sum, the other guitarist went to the men's room without notice between songs, and we needed him for the rest of the set (I play mostly rythm in this band), so we had to do an unexpected song. Well, I love early Deep Purple stuff and pulled that one out of the hat... It was supposed to be just a riff while the other guitar dude finished his leak, but our drummer and bassist covered me and we improvised the full song. The public seemed to like it :D

A few seconds someone recorded with a cell phone and sent us:

That was a good tone on that, Sergio. It sounded a lot like Blackmore's tone on the Machine Head album.

I wish I had a recording from the tune in the pic in my OP. Being an '80s-inspired version, I had a hair-metalish distortion on the rhythm parts. It seemed to go over pretty well.

For the solo, I kept the same beginning and end of the solo, as recorded on the Machine Head album, but I created my own part for the middle. I also did some of my own touches for the rhythm part during the verses.

It was lot of fun.

Thanks, guys! Actually the song didn't come out too good, after all it was improvised and each one of the guys picked up the song ad libitum... But it was fun!

Btw nothing fancy about the setup for that tone: Switch at position 4 (neck + middle), some extra mids on the amp and a good deal of volume on the MXR distortion +

I think people use too much distortion instead of output, so the result is that the tone you get isn't the vintage organic drive you expect when covering a classic song

It must have been cool! This song has several versions that varied throughout DP's history...

I myself like the earlier ones, but Steve Morse kicked ass many times playing it
