My feel good news for today

I Just got back from rehearsal, our bassist is 18, she is the daughter of our drummer, she always brings her best friend to practice with her. The friend helps us load out at shows, and she is learning a lot from us, which I think is the best thing ever.
They are in their own band together, an all girl band, all of them under 20yrs old
Anyhow, the friend asked me today after we finished if I'd look at her amp for her, it just stopped working.

So I followed them back to the drummers house and looked over her "new" amp. She traded 2 guitars and all the cash she had to her name for a 50w line6 twin something.... It blew up.
I looked at the fuse in it.... It was fine. But... I found a broken fuse and another fuse rattling around loose inside the amp.... Also there was a screw installed crooked into the chassis.... And the screw heads were all wallowed out.. I tried other power cords, messed around with it a bit and then told her it was probably smoked and I could take it apart and look at it, but it's probably out of my capabilities to fix it... I'm assuming a cooked tranny or melted board....
SO Someone (she got it at a music store in Prescott) has had issues with this amp before... Taken it apart, got it barely working and sold it to this kid.... She got to play it for 15 minutes and it blew up..... She called the shop, they told her too bad.... poor kid! I'm not sure if there are parents in her life or not...sounds like not.

So. I asked her if I could get something together for her. She was looking pretty sad knowing her amp was toast... and having to use her friends little 5watt Marshall amp thing that I know won't compete with the full drum kit there in the garage lol..... It broke my heart.

I came home looked at a few options on Facebook marketplace, and reverb, called a couple guys I deal gear with..... Then I just decided to round up a bunch of stuff I have and give it to her.
My newish seismic 2x12 cabinet with 8ohm V30's
A minty Joyo Jackman or Firebrand (whichever she likes better)
An overdrive "marshall in a box" pedal that I'll never use
An MXR 10 band eq ( I have 2 and don't use either one)
A mini reverb pedal
A mini noise gate pedal
An extra 1spot I had in my gig bag
Cables for everything.
Tomorrow I'm going to take it all to their garage and set it up for her/them. I'm overjoyed to be able to help them out with stuff I don't hardly use.

I'll need to replace my 2x12 cabinet sometime soon, but I have an extra 4x12 here in my garage I can take over there until I get another for practice.

Just thought I'd share my really good mood. She's going to be so excited I think.

That's awesome of you to do that for the kid! I'm sure what she'll get now from you will be miles ahead of what she would've gotten from that anyways.

Pretty sorry as hell for the music shop though, to offload a lemon and not even try to make it right. They knew what they sold and could've easily just offered her at a minimum, some store credit to compensate things.

That's awesome. I sort of had a similar situation but not exactly. My wife being the caring soul she is , gave my little Blackstar amp to a school kid that rode the bus she drove. Not sure he's playing Van Halen yet. But I know I wasn't. lol
I guess the kids dad thanked her and I threw in my old head phones in. I know it helped the dad. Lol

Very very cool paying it forward!!! Good on you.
(not too cool of the music store that sold the amp)

Well done what a super nice gesture. It feels good to let someone have stuff you aren't using anyways. She will be excited I am sure. Too bad she lost her money.
As for the music shop? Shame on them. They need a good public ripping.
What a great paying it forward..
great Karma will follow.

And I agree the music store who took her money for a unstable amp needs to be publicly ridiculed.

I commend your selfless support buddy.

That young lady will have a great time with the generosity you have shown.

Cheers
Here, here!! You know, I never minded crushing someone's soul when they do some scumbag stuff. So, if @Headache should ever wish to hand over said store's name, I'd gladly make a phone call lmao
