Milkman amps

Does anyone have any experience with Milkman amps?

While I was in Oslo this week, I visited a store called "Vintage Gitar", one of Norway's best guitar stores. It's not very big, and they only sell really high end stuff; Custom Shop Gibsons and Fenders mostly. They also have a selection of boutique amps, and also sell the odd vintage instrument or amp every now and then.

One of the amp guys in the store is buddies with the guy who makes Milkman amps, and the store stocks these. Lately I have been gasing on brownface Fenders, and the Milkman amps are based on these. Both the Milkman guy and the guy at Vintage Gitar are brownface geeks. I tried the Milkman HT15 Harmonic Tremolo amp, and was completely blown away. I used a Gibson Custom Shop SG while testing the amp, and MAN! did it sound nice. The price is horrible, but the sound was so sweet I fell in love on the spot. 15 watts of absolute goodness. The harmonic tremolo has a real univibe quality to it. Sounds wonderful. And the amp cranked to about 6 sounds just prefect for some fat blues.

Does seem like a good choice if you are going for the "refined Fender" kind of tone. I'd recommend also checking out ToneKing amps - they look a little goofy but the sound is sublime.

The brownface circuits are not complex, I suppose the harmonic trem is a plus selling point, but damn.
You could probably find a well made brownface princeton / reverb type and be close, no?

Yep, that's why I say the prices are horrible. I guess a lot of it is because all the amps are hand built by one guy, but still. There are two used models currently for sale here, but the prices are still horrible. Looking at eBay I could get a vintage brownface Deluxe or Princeton for roughly the same price. The harmonic tremolo is really cool, but not really a selling point to me, since I really don't use tremolo much.

But still, I have honestly never played with a sweeter tone than that, ever.

But then there is the new Fender '62 Princeton Amp Chris Stapleton Edition. Looks promising, at a slightly more reasonable price.
