Meeting the Production company.

So yesterday I got to meet the production company that picked me up. It being an up and coming company thats mainly local to Austin Texas that is steadily growing. So I got to meet a few of the people that where in, coming and going due to other obligations so on and so forth. Which is what this really was, a meet and greet seeing if we all mesh. Which we do, really cool laid back guys. We got a mixer, artists in several other genres including hard rock and rap and it sounds like they are about to pick up another artist that got burned pretty bad by the company they where with, got someone working on the websight, my buddy handles the advertising and is about to be handed the reigns for a lot of the behind the scenes stuff.

The owner of the company is very transparent, allowing me to sit in and take part in a meeting he was having with my friend Roz who basically told Jamar (the owner) about me. I got to see what they got going on, what is currently in the works, and whats being planned in the near future. Basically they have another show they are putting an artist in, they talked about budgets for merchandise, currently working out deals with some music stores for instruments, recording gear, stuff of that nature. They said the money is coming in, but there is some stuff that needs to be worked on. As well as a few places in mind for a more rock solid studio in the near future. All seems to be on track to me. I came in knowing that it's still a growing company that started recently but it made me feel better that they are working and making actual headway into becoming bigger.

Also got to hear some of the mixes and stuff they are putting out, which the production quality is actually pretty damn good!

So I got my gear together and we started working on a demo for my song. So we worked on a timing issue on the intro, and it showed what needed to be refined. I was kinda bummed at myself but I got a ton of compliments saying that this is par for the course with any artist, saying the song in and of itself is a rock solid Anthem/Rally the tone is awesome, and they all said that "and you can actually play!" so I'm guessing they had artist come in that used a crap ton of studio magic to make their playing seem more impressive than what they could actually pull off.

Jamar said he is actually having fun mixing this particular demo because he finds me really easy to work with who can take criticism and adapt quickly to making changes such as adding or taking away notes that cause a timing issue. So all of that actually made me feel better and more at ease.

Then he said that in a few weeks Tim will be coming back from his family vacation. Tim is their main rock artist who KNOWS music theory, he also has a talent to be able to edit, and mix on the fly as you are playing. So he can further help, refine, and help me improve my own playing. Both Roz and Jamar both said that they are going to get in touch with a drummer they know named Bret who they said is really good at hard rock and metal and would do really well with my stuff and has been begging for something to do.

so the plan is within a few weeks when Tim gets back, i come in, record do my parts will probably get that knocked out within half a day if we get an early enough start, Roz and Bret do their parts, and then they can get to work getting it mixed and outsourced for mastering.

So exciting things are in the works!

Haha! Well after the first meeting a freak accident burnt down the studio, the guys sent me pics and it was bad. Hadn’t heard from them since. However, my friends I made music for got me in touch with a sound engineer that’s been dealing in music since the 80’s and I’ve been in contact with him. So we’ll see where that leads to!
