How would one make a mahogany body look like rosewood??? Stain black first to bring out the grain, then sand lightly, then use a rosewood stain????

its actually Watco Black Walnut Danish oil and stain.i got some at a garage sale and have used it in my wood shop.i put some on a piece of 100 year old mahogany board which was kinda dark redish like the old Gibbys are made out of and it turned it a dark blackish walnut

if ya want poly or what ever on it ya got to let it cure for a few days first.matter of fact l, that might be the stuff i used on a Precision Guitar Kits SG JR. but i didnt put poly or nothing like that on it.i just wide it down once in awhile with my stain rag.
