Well you know how things just cross your mind at times. I was thinking of a guy that I discussed hobbies with, at the time I was about 50 years of age and he was about 62 at that time. Myself being a huge supporter for radio controlled aircraft, we got to talking, he had no hobbies and he wanted to get into something, of course I recommended flying R/C. Well he said I am too old to pick that up, I wont be able to learn that. I said no You're are not, don't underestimate yourself. So I gave him a little nudge and said come on out to the flying field tonight, there was some guys out there introduced him to some Members of the Club, he watched some flying he had a great time. Well this Gentleman at the age of 62 joined the Club and became one of the best Pilots going. You are saying well what's your point, the point is don't undersell yourself because of your age! There are many Seniors out there think they don't have the mind or reflexes to do some things that they would enjoy. The thing is you can do it if you have the desire and drive to accomplish it! The guy I am referring to here Flew planes better than many much younger guys in one year than they did in 4 years. So age is not a factor if you have good health and no impairments. When I retired 5 years ago I was 60 and I said to my Wife, I know I have my planes which is my number #1 passion, I felt I wanted some extra curriculum to keep my mind sharp and stay active. So I said to her I wanted to take up Electric guitar lessons, she said go for it! When I started I was playing twinkle twinkle little star, many of us have been there, you have to crawl before you can walk . I remember getting my finger placements for notes and chords with difficulty, but I knew with practice I would get better, now five years later I have exceeded my expectations and still going beyond. I really enjoy playing! I am no Randy Bachman or Joe Bonamassa , but hey I will keep trying. So guys don't let your age slow you down! There is nothing better than the Camaraderie we share together at any age, that's what will keep us young in heart and in mind. Its so GREAT when I go to Club meetings and go to the flying field and be in like mind with all age groups and especially the guys that are in their late seventies and eighty's who are still flying. And when it comes to guitars the enjoyment I get from playing guitar with my friends, enjoying the fun we have here on TTR .
