Hi All,

I'm John from BC, Canada. I design and build amps and amp kits. Saying hello here so that I can chime in on Greg's amp-kit thread :)

This looks to be a friendly place, so I'll post more stuff about my amps from time to time (if that is permissible).

In the meantime, here is a great demo of a 20W Caldera by Reza in LA:

Welcome John From BC. You will be assimilated, resistance is futile, etc...etc...:electric:
The first thing I always want to know about an amp is : what does the inside look like?
The second thing is looking at the schematic.
Then I understand it.

The next thing I would like your opinion on is the proposed "Sea of Columbia" Recreational Area.
Any feedback is always appreciated.

We met on the Canadian Guitar Forum. Brent and I came over to your place about a year ago to try a couple of your amps. I was very impressed and all set to buy one when my musical direction changed and I started playing acoustic in a trio. Still plan to get one one day. Welcome!

Hi Kerry! Nice to chat with you again. I just posted in the open-mic section of the CG Forum to explain my absence.

I had to look up what you're talking about...

Oh wow.... You have my most sincere condolences on the passing of your wife. Did she carry that breast cancer gene associated with ovarian cancer? How are you and your daughters doing through these very challenging and stressful times?

May your wife R.I.P.

Howdy and welcome -- I am humbled by your presence here-- as you truly must be a MASTER at SOLDERING ....

----if you hang around much you will learn -- I FOOGIN HATE SOLDERING --with a red hot passion (buwahahaha) --- and will sell an amp (for profit of course) -- or pummel it with a hammer before doing the most dreaded of deeds.....

for effect of course .. ;)

also collective knowledge leans to "im not right" -- but I am entertaining...............or at least cheap

True story...
I was sitting in my living room on a Friday night in 2018 (or 2019?). My (now late) wife was in the room with me, and my girls were in another room nearby. I had just poured a second glass of wine, and I decided to message a few of my favourite musicians on FB. I wrote Rob Lamothe (of Riverdogs and solo work), and as I was writing someone else (Jake E Lee, I think), I saw that I had an unread message in my inbox. It was Rob's reply. I had told Rob that I wanted to build an amp for him. We chatted for a long while, and that weekend I got down to building a 30W V2 Vibe for Rob. It was the first amp with my current 30W power supply (seen in a current amp kit build thread in Room Eleven). I asked my wife to guess who I was messaging with, and when I told her, I immediately heard one of my daughters yell "no way" from the next room. It was great fun.

Here's a photo of Rob's COVID setup.

And a Riverdogs vid!
