Just got word John passed away today. Damn cancer takes another good one. I never got to meet John in person. Had many internet/chat/PM conversations with him. We’re both Illinois boys and for awhile only lived about an hour apart. John played a pretty mean guitar. Played in some local bands. One was Dan Buck and the Boyzz. Right now I’m feeling pretty sucky.

I guess it hits hard since John and I are the same age. He just turned 70 June 26. Same as my anniversary. I turn 70 in Oct. Graduated HS same year. Both coming of age in the late 60s early 70s… we’ve been around some of the same blocks. Same experiences. Same music. Lived the same things…. Like people we knew going to Viet Nam. Some not coming back.

RIP brother. Gonna miss you.

Yes and no. John has had health issues for years. Not the least of which was diabetes…. And complications from that. Then, had what in essence was a surgery that went south. Long stay in hospital. Suffered some neurological damage. Which he fought back from and was able to play guitar again.

He’s been fighting this round since last Sept. Stage 4. Doc told him do nothing…. Maybe 6 weeks. Or something and buy some time. Doc didn’t blow smoke up his skirt. He wasn’t going to beat it this time. He got 8 months.
