Hello TTR peoples!
Wanted to give a shout to other musicians and gtr players that may not know about this record:
It's not a secret that Joe is at least mildly controversial among the guitar playing community for various reasons - and I share some of the critiques about him, his career, and his playing. But I wanted to mention what a great album "Breakthrough" is (I think).
Like a lot of stuff in this genre - it's not "traditional" blues - it's blues rock. That's how I think of it anyway.
But this record is solid, through and through. It's a more mature Joe (and band) in every way. Excellent arrangements, good album flow, even and well thought out, killer playing (including keys and drums), and of course Joe is the all-knowing, all-seeing mater of spot-on guitar tone. I don't like everything he's put out - but this is definitely an exception and a step up for him and a breath of fresh air.
So yeah - if this type of thing is even remotely your thing - highly recommended!
Happy Saturday!
(special Hello to Dave and 60's Guy!)
