IM SO CONFUSED

So I have a FENDER bassbreaker --- with EL84's........................that SOUNDS like a fender/marshall.......
a Marshal DSL 15h --- with 6v6's.........that sounds......fender/marshall
and a blackstar 1 watt with 12 ax and 12 au7 tubes........that can sound .....fender and marshall ish.....................
a lil sexy that has a 6v6 and sounds very "tweed"
and some solid state amps......................

where was I going with this??????????????????--- oh yeah -- who wants to send something in a different "flavor" and IS THERE any different FLAVOR of tube combos??
Orange has EL 84's
mesa...................been there done that .............

is there anything REALLY different?

Or can I rest comfortably in my tonal barrage?

dont they all use about the same tube configurations?
Vox...I have a VT20x and have had MANY voxs ...........they just dont "stick" ---I like them when OTHERS play them but they arent "my sound"
not tried Hiwatt but -- those tend to be HIGH DOLLAR and WATTAGE -- I max out in the 15 watt realm for Tube amps -- prefer 5 and 1 watters honestly

I do not dislike the ones I have I just find it funny......
Fenders are known for 6v6 based
Marshalls EL84 based......

but my Marshall has 6v6's and my Fender has El84's .................................................................Im confused..................................

An easier alternative is to change your tubes to something radically different ( biasing is essential and sometimes small mods are necessary of course)! For example: EL34s can be easily swapped to 6CA7 ( a darker American Version of the British EL34 *EDIT: i mistakenly said 6AC7 initially and was promptly corrected lol*), KT 66 ( more bottom end and woodier tone) Kt77 ( like a 6AC7 but more cleaner highs) and its even possible to go to a lil more extreme to 6L6 ( classic american amp tone like Fender, Mesa or Peavey) or the 5881 ( britains answer to the 6L6 but crunchier and more rugged).

Radical changes can be done like going to the massive 6550 or KT88 ( usually both require modding) but they open up more headroom by taking more to push them to breakup.

As far as preamp gain goes? Lots of possibilities without biasing or modding really. For example gain can be increased by using higher gain 12Ax7s or reduced by using tubes with less draw like a 5751, 12AT7 or one of my favorites, a 12Au7.

I didnt INTEND that layout -- just happenstance -- but confusing ........

for the argument a Bugera V5 or VOX Night train or Randal Diavlo would be nice as well

not really amp shopping (unless someone is sending them for free) lol -- just "musing"

Supro makes some models with different tubes, like 6973's.

Even the classic amps with similar tubes can sound very different. It's all about the circuit design.

oh that sounds like soldering only more technical........thanks but no ........
lol
Lol believe me , i hate soldering too! Biasing is just adjusting your mA pot. But worse than a hot soldering iron: you gotta use meters and play around with plate voltage and amperage so if you make a mistake, youll be cutting a new window in your house when you get blown thru it lmao

ooooh that seems like something off the wall.....................................

what models?
any small cheap heads (been looking for cheap head for decades ;) )
low ball low watt low enders?
They have a few models. All of the specs are on their website, but they ain't that cheap. I mean Under 2K, which ain't bad, but not dirt cheap.

Soldano designed Jet City. After many years of trying to find an amp that delivered the sound in my head, these came on the market so I took a chance. I've never looked back. I originally got a new single channel combo but also pounced on a 2 channel version when one appeared on CL.
