As the title says, I put some external speaker jacks in my Spark40.
The little 4"ers are connected with spade terminals, so I just put in some switching jacks.
There's in internal back wall behind the removable back panel.
Laid out some holes for the jacks with space for more spade connectors.
Back panel will get thinned down around the jack hole, so just the jack nut is visible on the back.
Hole saw through the internal wall.
Forsner bit to remove some thickness without going all the way through.
Ran the speaker leads from the amp to the unswitched side of the jacks.
Internal speakers re-wired to the switching side of the jacks.
They'll disconnect when external cables are plugged in.
Buttoned it up after confirming the internals are working.
Needed some 4Ω speakers to test out the external jacks.
Possibly a crime, but I put some 12" CODE speakers in the empty 2266C case.
Ok, WOW, compared to the little 4" speakers, this sounds MASSIVE!
Picked up the Wharfedales today.
Took a quick look inside both cabs and everything looks hooked up
Cabs read around 3.5Ω, as do the little speakers in the Spark.
Hooked them up for a test run and they seem to be working just fine.
Cleaned them up a bit and put them in the office.
I got the Spark app running on the tablet for a touchscreen control panel.
I think I might just leave them as is.
They sound MASSIVE compared to the little 4" Spark speakers.
Not exactly my main rig, so I'm calling it good enough...
