ANy way

back to playing the CRUSH 12. Neat little thing -- perfect cleans and -- Ill get around to running a line out to my peavey CAb....... then it will be FULL and rich and lovely --

the Micro Terror was (honestly) just to loud -- when I got a good tone-- for my hearing issues. -- much happier w/ the crush -- thanks MR Marshall for an excellent, er ORANGE !

well if ya ride the knobs on this little thing right-- (with a volume -- a gain AND an overdrive) plus 3 band EQ ...... sprinkle in some reverb pedal and -- even through the 6.5 inch speaker it doesnt do BAD -- through the PEavey 12..... it really sounds like a BIG amp -- again at liveable volume for me and the dogs -- crank a MArshall in the office would certainly hurt K-9 hearing --- so I need to get good tones at low volumes

I'm not reading your posts no more. :bash:

I also find a nice benefit of the SS amps is you get (yes tube devotees ... before you get upset....its NOT REAL BREAK UP) but you get a facsimlie of break up (like on a modeling or SIMULATION amp-- ) at again useable volumes and -- you dont have to FRET if you want to play for only 3 minutes--- or 300 if your going to wear out your tubes...
IF I want to noodle for 10 minutes before leaving the house--- SS amp--
if I get home and want to noodle for 15 minutes before farm chores-- SS amp
if I am noodling while on hold-- or during a skype business meeting (phone on mute of course) .....SS amp.
EARLY Sunday morning improve jazz sessions while the Misses sleeps.....................SS amp

when I have an hour or 2 to really just SIT and PLAY uninterrupted and dig the tones .............TUBE amp

they can live in harmony --- they really can-- I have more SS amps than tube amps but I really dont find one better -- they are just different for different uses/reasons etc.

Wow, what a thoughtful, insightful, and intelligent post.

Now WHO ARE you, and WHAT did you do with ADRIAN? :pound-hand:

I got myself a little DSL-1 combo for spur-of-the-minute and short-duration noodling. It kills any SS or modeling amp for tone and feel, and no worries whatsoever about only running it for a few minutes. Its also tiny/portable and cheap as chips (for a real Marshall tube amp). Hell, it even has a shockingly good-sounding cab simulated headphone out for staying quiet. I tried, I really did, to find a SS state amp that was worth plugging into but just had to accept that it wasn't happening and I had to move on/back to a tube amp for practice and noodles.

You gotta love that thing. I got the head version and it sounds awesome. Gets about as loud as a good stereo cranked. And they are ridiculously light and easy to move around.

Yeah, I've tried them. I had one of the MOSFET ones for a while in, like, the 1980s. Great tone for what they were, but nothing beats tubes for me.
