Many of y’all know me from other forums and sites…those of you who do will already be familiar with my gear and a lot of my stories, so some of these will be repeats of what you’ve seen before…
But for the people who haven’t met me before, come with your expectations low and you’ll only be mildly disappointed.
I’m in three bands, but we mostly record, not a lot of live performances.
My main band (20+ years) is the Screamin’ Armadillos. We play (mostly) original Texas Roadhouse Music (Blues + Outlaw Country + Classic Rock, in varying blends). In that band, I’m the main vocalist, rhythm & lead & slide guitar and harp/harmonica player…I’m also the primary songwriter. The cover songs we play are usually a bit obscure to the average listener.
My secondary band is Sheena & the Sideshow…it’s basically the Screamin’ Armadillos, plus my 22-year old daughter…it’s funny, but the instant she walks onstage, we’re a different band. Exact same instruments and amps and personnel, but we start playing a blend of 60’s Mexican Garage Rock + Classic Country + Original Singer-Songwriter Americana (that she primarily wrote)…that sounds weird, but it really does work. She’s the main vocalist and plays rhythm guitar. I play all the things I play in the Armadillos, but have started adding more lap steel stuff, too.
My daughter and I also have a little semi-acoustic duo called “Polk Salad Annie”…a mix of “Sheena” covers and a few originals, with both of us singing a lot of duo songs like Conway and Loretta, Johnny & June, Waylon & Jessie…both of us playing guitar—I play harp a bit, too.
We have fun with it, and don’t take it too seriously. It’s just for our own amusement.
I prefer Teles and Strats and Fender tube amps, but I’ll play whatever is handy. Likewise for harps—I prefer Hohner Blues Harps, but have several other models as well.
