How safe do you think your online accounts are?

They aren’t. If hackers can break into the CIA or FBI…. A bank isn’t going to stop them. Amazon or eBay isn’t going to keep them out.

I had someone book a hotel room for 15 nights using my booking.com account the other day. I canceled it and let them know it wasn't me, but I don't know if that was enough. I'm pretty sure there's no credit card associated with my account. My credit union is pretty quick to notify me of any suspicious activity.

Every time I buy off of Reverb.com I get scam emails I block any email I don't know same with my phone

I guess my ad blocker must catch most of them, I don't know. Most of that kind of stuff ends up in my spam folder. Especially around holidays.

I think most of the hacking isn't through our credentials. These guys usually backdoor access for a much bigger reward. They key in most cases is to get into the databases. Like here - we could change session 5's password and think we're really funny. :p

I have about a dozen email addresses, each focused on very specific areas of interest and get used sparingly. For most online purchases or “enter an email to continue” stuff, I setup up this one below. I log into it only once a year, usually around Christmas, I select all and then delete.
