How do I turn off notifications?

I get too much e'mail and too much spam and
so I don't want to be notified every time someone responds to
a thread I'm part of, or not part of... How do I turn this off?
 
on your profile page ---- under preferences. unclick the stuff you dont want. if you have issues let me know I think I can do it for you :)

Hover your mouse over your name in the upper right corner of the page. You'll get a drop-down window. Click on Preferences. That's where you can set the notifications. If you select Alert Preferences, you can change what generates an alert for you.
 
thanks admins... for the quick response and the correct answers. I b'lieve I've got my
preferences the way I want them now.
 
Nope...email notifications checked off, but nothing...could be related to my original confirming of the account???
 
I am getting on site alerts, but no email notifications...I like the email thing so I can keep up when I'm not on the forum...
 
...and I was never able to receive the confirmation to join the site by email. Wav had to do trickery
 
There is a problem with this software and email notifications. I've tried using different servers and still get a problem. It must be the dumb webmaster of this site doesn't know how to set up email.
