Hot strat with an anemic P2

I have not picked this one up in a while. I certainly have not mentioned it since I put it together.

This is a Squire Affinity with BK pups as follows:

BKP Sinners in the neck (15.45K) and middle (15.52K) both with baseplate; BKP Holy Diver bridge HB (15.98K).

P2 is out if phase. Reversing the output wires on the bucker or the middle did not solve this issue, assuming I got my wires right. I did not go for the magnet flip because I am more of a position 4 guy and I do not want to take a dhance messing up the pup

Anyway, it sure has interesting sounds to explore. The bridge in his HSS is even wired to split

Here is neck to bridge (pos 5 to 1) with pots wide open. I did not split the bridge for this sound sample.

AND HOT! wow!

Damn it Ray your getting good enough to go pro! Love the tune.
Except I have the timing of a moose in that clip (or maybe Jimmy Page). But I was just fiddling!

Love it around 16k....

What happens if you physically turn the bridge pickup around?
....and does the coil split kill the screw coil or the slug coil?

Physical orientation will not affect phase, it would be either magnetic or electric. This is a strong enough effect that I would guess it is magnetic. Calling Bobby!!

Spliting does not affect phase in this instance, but I think it usually affects the slug side so that you still have adjustable pole pieces. You should hear position 2 when the bridge is split. Ouch!

Does this help?

BKP's FAQ section:
WHAT IS THE BARE KNUCKLE "FOUR CONDUCTOR COLOUR CODE"?
The colour code we use goes like this: Black: Start of screw coil; White: End of screw coil; Red: Start of slug coil; Green: End of slug coil. For standard series operation, solder the red to the pot tag, the black to ground (usually the back of the pot casing) and solder the green and white together.

Thanks, but I would have to open it up to recall. I had the color codes at the time of the build. In any event, I reversed them to no avail, which leads me to believe they need a magnet flip and may be incompatible as a trio. I did not buy them as a set.

Looking at that wiring diagram, it's designed to auto split in position 2. If you want to avoid the auto split, then do not connect the green/white wire combo to the selector. Leave the wire combo connected to each other and tape off or use shrink tubeing to cover any bare wire.

Thank you Sysco!! This thread was just meant as a Spotlight, but you have inspired me to open it up and take a look. I will do do today!

Huge difference! Congrats on figuring it out....

But, I'm still curious in how you have everything wired up. Is it different than the BKP's wiring diagram that I posted?

Wired to split with a Push-pull? I don't see a toggle.

Did the bridge pup have its magnet flipped before?

Yes, it splits on a push pull. I also have a jumper so that the bridge has a tone control. Otherwise, pretty much the same.
