Flipping an SG upside down is really easy if there is enough adjustment in the bridge. You don't even have to move a strap button.

My first guitar was a right handed '68 Alpine White SG. Got it for $200 and had a shop change out the nut and reintonate it. Worked pretty well. Knobs really didn't get in the way too bad. I removed the tremolo lever and made sure to use a 90 degree cable.
