Happy Gibsunday! Let's see your Gibsons:

Those who've read my posts will prolly have seen these already, but I love them all.
So here they are again:

>Luna, my 2007 SG faded special, modded with all the best of everything I could buy or make for her.
Tone Pros black tuners, Ebony TRC with inlays of abalone and MOP, Buzz Feiten shelf nut, Gibson '57 classic
and Classic plus pickups with Allparts black covers, hand carved (by me) walnut P/G, hand carved (by me) ebony
switch washer, Martin SixString custom wiring harness with CTS 500k pots and Russian PIO caps, Allparts 0-11 knobs
and a TonePros bridge and tail. Thirteen years after I brought the lady home, she's still the Queen of my music room.
Still the best guitar of any kind that I've ever played.

>Zelda, my 2018 J-45 'Avante Guard'... I sold off much of my collection in 2018 and 19, in preparation for my time
as care giver. I sold off all my coolest and most vintage guitars, turning them into money I thought we'd need soon.
Zelda was my consolation prize. Walnut back and sides, Spruce top, Maple neck with Walnut skunk stripe, Walnut
bridge and fretboard... a completely unique instrument made of North American hardwoods. She sounds like
nobody else's guitar. Zelda was made in January 2018, just before Gibson turned turtle. I wanted one of these as
soon as I heard about it. I've modded her only a little: Ebony bridge pins and a set of Waverly tuners with ebony knobs.
She's a lovely thing with a voice all her own. She sports the Baggs Element undersaddle pickup.

>Catalina, my 2012 SG special "70s Trib." Silverburst satin finish, blade-sensor Mini hum buckers, maple neck with volute,
also the "70s thick to thin neck carve" --what ever that is... It's fast and comfortable, and comes alive in my hands.
This one was just about perfect right out of the box, so I've only done a few judicious mods to her.
I bought her a set of TonePros black tuners simply because they were on sale. The stock tuners were fine, I just wanted black.
I bought her an Ebony TRC made by Scott Swirski of Canada, as was Luna's. Catalina's has the "Tribal Rose" design and
looks beautiful. I just had to remove the plastic pick guard and switch washer, so I made my own out of ebony headstock veneer.
These are details that no one would ever notice until they looked at her right up close. But I don't care, I did these mods for my
own satisfaction. This guitar sounded and felt great right out of the box, no mods necessary. She's got the stock Nashville bridge
which works fine and renders awesome tone, she's got the stock Gibson wiring with no PCB, she's got the stock Corian nut, which
works fine and renders awesome tone. The '70s Tribute came stock with baked maple fretboard, which I like very well.
It's hard and smooth and has given great service with no problems since I bought this guitar marked WAY down in 2013.
The mini hum buckers give this guitar a totally unique tone, or at least they did until Gibson saw fit to re-issue this model.
It's an excellent design, as the sales of the re-issues have proved.

Say what you will about overpriced and over decorated Gibsons, these humble SG specials rock. And my J-45 sounds better every time
I pick her up to play.

It's a heavy beast, given to me from my father as an early inheritance gift after he stopped playing. I don't pick it up as often as it deserves... feels oddly large on me, like stepping into boots way too big.

I have one of these too but not nearly as nice as this one. Mine came from around 96 and Epiphone wasnt putting all the nicer features like this one : better wood, sharper angles, stain, pickups and inlay.
Bought this used in 09. Chinese built. Near as I can tell it’s most likely an 06. My first electric after years of acoustic only. It was my test mule. I’ve changed everything on it but the plastic and the wood. Learned a lot about electric guitars and at the end of the day….. I really like the guitar.
