Guitar fret wear from cheap strings?

The only guitar that I own that shows any signs of fret wear is my 50 year old Ovation. Part of that has to be due to using heavy strings..... .012s and .013s. None of my electrics seem to have any wear. But then.... I do tend to use quality strings.

I do also tend to not attack the fret board like our friend Robert did..... which if I'm not mistaken, is why he started to use SS fret wire on his guitars.
