Going lighter

Now about these 9's I'm using. Being D'aderios (spelling?) XL series, I knew they'd be good. Those, Rotosound, Dunlop Round Wound are my choice for strings. Battle tested over decades of playing juke joints to using on my custom builds. They work.

I wouldn't use Ernie Ball strings to hold up a busted muffler on a 67 Dodge pickup! Nasty strings! :poo:

But anyway, I'm getting used to the more flimsy feel, sorta. Tone's ok. Hand hurts little now though. In the Rangers we called that Mission Success. No Casualties.(y)

I have an old saying that goes like this:

"There's not an issue that I can't resolve with a solid left hook or a slug from a .44."

Occasionally just the mention of this personal method of problem solving has had a positive effect in correcting the problem or altering another's behavior. My old Chief of Police told me once "Sarge, you're as subtle as an incoming round from a howitzer. " I took that as a compliment.

Good luck finding your way back, hope the string change helps.

+1 on the plain ol nickel wound D'Addario exl / xl.
I play 10's on 24 3/4" - 25" scale but 9's on a strat and am considering going down to 9's on the Tele
and up to 11's on a 24" scale Jaguar.

But I'm a snot nosed 53 year old kid playing 2+ years so I know exactly jacksh*t, but so far thats what works for me.
But, I digress...

I made the decision just this past Saturday to restring my ASAT with 9-46. It has 10's on it now, and I was getting some sharp pains after about 2 hrs of playing with the guys.
