GlassvsBrass

On an electric, I use the Coricidin bottle. On my Dobro, I use a piece of steel tube that I bored the I.D. on a lathe to fit over the knuckle on my ring finger. A friend of mine gave me a heavy glass one to try. I need to set up a guitar for just slide again. I like being able to press down on strings in front or behind the slide to get different chord options. I use the steel Stevens Bar on lap steel.

I prefer thick glass myself. Used brass for a long time - good sustain, and perhaps warmer than steel.
But I prefer the feel of glass over metal and I think the tone is a bit less... metallic.
That's more significant in recent years, since I've mostly gone to vintage output pickups.

I can dabble a bit with a slide, never really mastered it but I like to play with one from time to time. I used a coricidin for a little bit until I dropped it off my amp and smashed it lol since then, I use a steel chrome and I use it on the pinky, so I have the first three fingers free. Kind of like using it as an expression trick rather fully playing slide.
