Here's a fun little demonstration from none other than Scott Grove.

The point isn't to suggest they sound the same. They definitely sound different. The point is to make more of a blind comparison.

Before you know which one you're hearing, which do you like better?

I saw it if was a Scott Grove bunch of mis informed I saw it. I don't know why but I did.

I thought it sounded better.....the Fender sounded thin ......

Ol Scott hes a trip--- dont think I could stand being in a room with him more than 5 minutes---- but he is certainly entertaining.

and then there are hybrid amps----and modeling amps --- and pedals that model the tube amps --- or the solid state amps---and then you have ..........oh never mind.

He talks to much,i loved that Tele he had,and i dont know if it sounded better but the darn Walmart First Act amp sounded just as good hahahaha.

I'd like to hang with him for just a day to see how he is in person. I dig a lot of his videos and he is a good player.

Plus I'd love to spend an hour or two in his guitar room!

I can't stand the guy, and while I agree he is a pretty decent player he has the worst tone and sense of musical styles (IMO of course). He'll wax poetic about those awful Johnson modeling amps (there is a reason they went out of business) and then when you hear him playing with a band he walks all over the other players. Coupled with his abrasive attitude I want nothing to do with the guy.

You being a seasoned player understand his vibe and problems better than I do.

I would still like to give him a couple hours to see if he's fun or abrasive to hang with...

The video shows why most tube amps are not good for home use. Turn the volume up on both amps and see which one responds best.

Good point!

I have a 2002 Marshall MG50 1x12 I bought new just for my music students. My Mom has been using it and I played through it this weekend. It actually sounds better than my DSL40C at living room volume, but scream it wide open and it gets thin, whereas the DSL40C starts sounding better and better...
